ley sang about love, relationships, brotherhood, political oppression, and metaphorical and artistic insights (Johnson). Even after Marley’s death in 1981 he continued to shine and his music continued to climb in the music business. His music still continues to inspire peace and social awareness in the poor. Marley’s compilation album, Legend, was released 3 years after his death in 1984 and has sold over 13.5 million copies just in the United States (Johnson). Before and after Marley’s death he accomplished a remarkable amount of things including in 1976 when him and his band received the “Band of the Year” award from Rolling Stones Magazine (Johnson). This was the very beginning of his long stream including more such as in 1978 he received the Peace Medal of the 3rd World, in 1981 Jamaican Order of Merit, 1994 he was honored with the Induction to the Rock and Roll hall of Fame (Johnson). In 1999 his album ‘Exodus’ was chosen by Time Magazine as the greatest album of the 20th century, and also in 1999 his album ‘Legend’ received its 10th Platinum Certification. In 2001 he received the Grammy Lifetime Acheivement Award, which that along can set an example for what he’s achieved. Also in 2001 he was given a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, and in 2004 Rolling Stone ranked #11 on the list of 100 Greatest Artists of all time (Johnson). If Bob Marley would be alive today we can all assume he would continue to climb and continue making a difference. In short even today He IS the man!
