Scanner :I specifically like openbeam over some of the other microextrusions because 1) It uses standard M3 hardware!!! 2) 1.5cm seems to be a good tradeoff between size and rigidity.. (2cm is kinda large for stuff I want to do.. and 1cm is too small for strength and rigidity I am after.)

and I like openrail because it has the interlocking plates so I can go for a 1cm dual sided rail.

Seravi :oops Openbeam.663w
Seravi :Openrail sounds cool, it would be one way around my current Misumi woes.663w
Scanner :Oh, see http://d.ly/2se for what openrail is and http://d.ly/2sf for CNC building blocks. A small shopbot costs almost $6k. I should be able to get an almost 1 meter x 1 meter build platform with what I am using. (for the 4x8 build platform I just use the shopbot at the near by techshop.)663w
Scanner :(oh these are 1 meter sections seen edge-on, so this is 10 meters of openbeam)663w
Scanner :Stuff. Mostly just wanting to have materials on hand.

(I have one test project in mind that is a rather simplistic thing - a sliding shelf for my replicator.. mostly just to test it. I need my order of OpenRail to arrive first though.. ) after that I am going to be building a CNC machine (OpenBeam + OpenRail + parts from a CNC Construction kit)

Seravi :Oh that's cool. What are you building?663w
